Role summary
The Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Chief Cardiac Physiologist specializing in Electrophysiology (EP) to join their active department. The successful candidate will be influential in developing EP services, participating in a 24/7 PPCI service, and rotating through various aspects of invasive and non-invasive cardiology. This role requires extensive experience in invasive and non-invasive cardiology, particularly in EP and Cardiac Rhythm Management, and involves clinical, managerial, personnel, educational, and administrative duties.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or Equivalent
- Intermediate Life Support Skills
- IBHRE in EP or BHRS or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
- BHRS or IBHRE in Devices
- RCCP registration or equivalent
- Experience and Knowledge
- Extensive experience with RF and cryo-ablation therapy
- Extensive experience in physiological investigations including cover for 24/7 PPCI service
- Extensive knowledge of invasive cardiology with competency in PCI, simple and complex device implants
- Demonstrate competency in supporting ILR/pacemaker/ICD and CRT implantation and follow up, and invasive techniques
- Demonstrate competency to lead in ECG, ETT, Ambulatory Monitoring, pacing and complex device follow-up
- Experience with 3D mapping system
- Staff management
- Experience of stock control
- Adaptable and flexible
- Ability to wear lead apron
- Ability to work cross-site
- Ability to work extended working hours

Job summary
We are seeking a suitably qualified Chief Cardiac Physiologist to join our team at Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust. We are a very active department providing a wide range of investigations and are looking to expand our team of multi-skilled cardiac physiologists.
The successful applicant will be influential in the direction of the department and development of the EP services that we provide; we are the leading centre in Surrey for Electrophysiology studies and ablation. The applicant will be participating in 24/7 PPCI service.
Applicants should have extensive experience in invasive and non-invasive cardiology, and be specialised in Electrophysiology & Cardiac Rhythm Management. The post holder will still benefit from the opportunity to rotate through all aspects of the department as EP lists run two to three days each week.
The department offers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations. including echocardiography, physiologist-led exercise testing, 24 hour ECG and BP monitoring and event recording. We have a busy Pacemaker/ICD implant and follow-up service; we are the leading implant centre in Surrey for ICDs and CRTs with an extensive remotely-monitored patient population.
