Role summary
This is an opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the surgery team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The role involves providing a flexible and comprehensive service, independently assessing and intervening for patients with complex needs, and ensuring safe discharges. You will work across various surgical wards, supported by a clinical specialist, and have opportunities for skill development and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key responsibilities
- Provide a flexible and comprehensive service to a designated area as an autonomous practitioner.
- Independently carry out specialised assessment and appropriate intervention for patients with complex needs.
- Assess risks relating to the discharge process to ensure safe and timely discharge.
- Provide advice and information to patients/carers, including instruction and training regarding equipment.
- Carry out day to day supervision of qualified and unqualified staff.
Essential criteria
- BSc OT
- Health Professions Council registration
- Relevant post-graduate experience
- Specialist clinical knowledge and experience in the relevant clinical area within the acute setting
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence

Job summary
Due to career development of our existing staff and developments within our services we have opportunity for a substantive band 6 Occupational Therapist within our department. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist or Band 5 ready to progress to Band 6 to join our team and help us to ensure that we meet the Trust's vision to provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most.
The Band 6 provides an excellent opportunity for occupational therapists to continue broadening their skills and to develop greater knowledge & skill sharing across teams. This role will be based within the surgery team covering all surgical wards. This is a developing service supported by the OT clinical specialist in surgery, typically covering Colorectal, Vascular, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, & Plastics
The Occupational Therapy service at NNUH has over 90 members of staff committed to providing a high- quality patient care across all specialisms. We have a dynamic working environment where two days are never the same. There is the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals, requiring the many areas of occupational therapy, skills and knowledge in order to have a positive impact at a time when it is needed most.
