Role summary
This is a part-time Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant role supporting patients admitted for orthopaedic procedures, including elective and trauma work. The position involves cross-site working between King George Hospital and Queen's Hospital. The focus is on early intervention and discharge planning, requiring strong communication and time management skills. The service operates 7 days a week, and the role offers support for continuing professional development.
Essential criteria
- Educated to G.C.S.E level or equivalent
- Evidence of recent relevant further education E.g. NVQ level III
- Skills / Abilities
- Ability and understand and follow instructions accurate and learn new skills quickly
- Ability to communicate information (verbal, non-verbal and written) in an accurate, clear and logical manner
- Ability to work at moderate to intense physical effort throughout the day
- Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and with emotional or aggressive patients and carers.

- Exoerience / Knowledge
- Previous experience in the delivery of healthcare
- Experience with orthopaedic and/or elderly patient groups
- Education / Qualifications

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team to support patients admitted to hospital for Orthopaedic procedures. This role includes a combination of elective and trauma work.
This post will entail some cross-site working between King George Hospital in Ilford and Queens Hospital in Romford. It is currently a part-time role however there may be scope for these hours to increase in the future.
This post would suit someone with acute healthcare experience, strong communication and time management skills. The focus within BHRUT is on early intervention and discharge planning therefore rapid and confident decision-making skills is essential. Experience of working with early discharge services such as HomeFirst would be an advantage.
