Role summary
This role is for a compassionate, creative, and proactive Technical Instructor to join an Inpatient Therapy Team. You will enhance the therapeutic environment on acute mental health wards by delivering recovery-focused activities. Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will co-create and facilitate group and individual sessions tailored to service users' needs, promoting engagement and wellbeing. Activities may include art, music, movement, games, and life skills, all grounded in trauma-informed practice.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate a variety of group activities i.e. cooking and creative activities, including functional sessions.
- Facilitate one to one intervention.
- Contribute to client care by liaising with the MDT.
- Facilitate functional assessments as guided by the ward OT.
- Accompany the ward OT on home visits / community access.
- Have regular supervision & annual appraisal.
Essential criteria
- experience of working with people with mental health problems within a health or social care setting
- Experience of planning and running therapeutic groups and sessions.
- Effective skills in a range of activities Eg. gardening, art, cooking, crafts, reminiscence, exercise, music, relaxation
- Ability to plan and lead practical and discussion groups independently.
- An experience of working with health care professionals
- knowledge of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, psychosis
- An understanding of risk assessment and risk management
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4+ or A-C
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience and/or training
- Professional manner towards clients and colleagues
- Physical ability to participate in breakaway and PMVA training
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of OT models eg MOHO
- Awareness of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and its significance for service users and impact on clinical practice
- Training in the specific activities relevant to client group e.g. Cookery, Art/craft, IT, Health & Fitness, DJing.

Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and proactive Technical Instructor to join our dynamic Inpatient Therapy Team.
