Role summary
This role involves recruiting, training, supporting, and developing voluntary services to provide high-quality support to patients, carers, families, and employees within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be a talented Volunteer Co-ordinator, working 25 hours per week across 4-5 days. They will be based in Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital, Hastings, as part of a pair of Volunteer Co-ordinators. The position requires good administrative, organisational, and communication skills, with an ability to work on own initiative.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level - including Maths and English at grade C or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of ongoing training, experience and knowledge in relevant specialist subject.
Desirable criteria
- ECDL or alternative relevant IT qualification
- RSAIII typing / word processing or proven equivalent level of skill
- Evidence of previous experience in an administrative, service user /client /patient facing role or a clinical role within the NHS or other public / voluntary sector organisation relating to the provision of health or social care
- Previous experience of maintaining records and databases
- Experience of working on own initiative and solving problems
- Experience of inter-agency and partnership working
- Previous experience of working within social and health and care services
- Previous experience of handling cash
- Previous experience of working with volunteers
- Good understanding of voluntary services
- Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Understanding and experience of good practice volunteering including recruitment and retention of volunteers
- Experience of using data bases to record client / service user / volunteer / patient information
- Ability to plan and organise a broad range of activities and programmes mobilising volunteer support
- Knowledge and understanding of the NHS structures and functions
- Experience of measuring impact of voluntary services
- Understanding of promoting good practice in enhancing patient experience
