Role summary
This role is for a Paediatric Nursing Assistant (Clinical Support Worker; Higher Level) on Peanut Ward at Queen Victoria Hospital. Key responsibilities
- Provide effective and safe patient-centred care with minimal supervision.
- Undertake delegated clinical care duties such as basic observations, blood glucose monitoring, and phlebotomy.
- Assist with patient admission, discharge, and personal care duties including bathing, toileting, and dressing.
- Support patients with eating and drinking, and assist in the evaluation of new equipment.
- Ensure the department is restocked and maintain cleanliness of clinical areas.
- Document patient information factually, timely, and accurately in both written and electronic formats.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 or Level 3 Diploma (NVQ) in Health care support or able to demonstrate knowledge within this field through significant practical experience
- GCSE English and Maths grade 4 or functional skills for English and Maths
- Previous experience of working with children

Main duties of the job
As part of our paediatric team you will be involved in the care of children with minor burn injuries and of children admitted for day surgery procedures.
You will meet and welcome our patients, admit patients to the ward, offer comfort and support to our patients and their families. You will accompany children to the theatre for their operations, comforting their parents alongside the child's care.
You will be involved in distraction and play activities.
You will under supervision monitor a patient through their recovery prior to discharge.
You will use technology to admit patients onto our systems and for booking further appointments.
You will be involved in many elements of children's nursing and surgical care.
You will be involved in continuous quality improvement projects
You will be involved in our paediatric out patient clinics, including phlebotomy, pre-assessment
