Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist/Allied Health Professional to develop and coordinate Paediatric Trauma and Rehabilitation services within Cambridge University Hospitals. The post involves leading and influencing change, ensuring effective patient pathways and discharge planning, and contributing to the senior nursing team. You will work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams to promote service development and expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate Paediatric Trauma and Rehabilitation services.
- Lead and influence change within the service.
- Maximise effective patient pathways and discharge planning.
- Ensure partnership working across teams for service development.
- Contribute to the senior nursing team across Children's Services.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
Essential criteria
- RSCN/ RN Child/Allied Health Professional NMC/HCPC Registration
- First Degree (or equivalent level) in nursing or health-related subject
- Teaching and Assessing qualification Evidence of on-going CPD
- Working with acute and chronically ill children in a therapy or nursing background
- Evidence of having worked collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching colleagues/ students and to mentorship
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the Children Act
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the National Service Framework
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the Every Child Matters
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the Working together to Safeguard Children
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the NHS Plan
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the Liberating the Talents
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Skills of diplomacy and negotiation
- Well-developed organisational and planning ability, able to prioritise and delegate
- Experience of managing a caseload Autonomous Practitioner
- Maintain a flexible attitude to change
- Demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team and build good relationships
- Computer literate
- Ability to manage performance of staff, change management and conflict
- The ability to understand and behave at all time towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust vales of safe, kind and excellent

Desirable criteria
- Post-graduate Diploma/Degree/Masters
- Counselling qualification
- Care of the critically ill child Speciality Qualification
- Experience of working with children,young people and families following major trauma Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience as a clinical nurse specialist / extended scope practitioner
- Knowledge of rehabilitation prescriptions and outcome measures
- NHS experience
- Experience in developing care pathways and patient information
- Experience of managing conflict
- Competent in use of databases, spread sheets and PowerPoint
- Experience of audit and research
