Role summary
The South West Gambling Service is recruiting Clinical Psychologists or Cognitive Behaviour Therapists to provide treatment for people experiencing gambling harms and their families. This remote-working role involves assessment, formulation, and treatment using CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Interventions, both individually and in groups. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, participate in meetings, and support partner organisations. Training and support will be provided, with a strong focus on staff wellbeing.
Essential criteria
- Doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology, or postgraduate qualification in CBT
- HCPC registration or BABCP accreditation

- Training in Motivational Interviewing
- Training in working with addictions
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working as a psychological therapist in NHS services
- Experience of providing evidence-based assessments, formulation and therapeutic interventions in addiction or mental health services (individual and group)
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
- Experience of safety assessment, safety planning and safeguarding
- Experience working with people with gambling harms or other addictions
- Research and quality improvement experience
- Experience in teaching and training.

Job summary
The South West Gambling Service would like to recruit Clinical Psychologists or Cognitive Behaviour Therapists. We provide treatment to people experiencing gambling harms as well as their families and significant others, working in a trauma informed manner. These exciting new roles can be based in any location across the South West of England as we are a remote working team.
The roles involve assessment, formulation and treatment, providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Family Interventions, both individually and in groups. The role involves working as part of the MDT, participating in relevant meetings and processes, and supporting our wider network of partner organisations.
As Gambling services are new to the NHS we will provide support and training to help you in your role. The team have regular in-person meetings and there is a strong focus on staff wellbeing. The role will involve working at least one evening per week according to service needs and there will be opportunities to get involved in research and service development.
