Role summary

This is an exciting 10-month fixed-term opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the stroke and neurology therapy team at West Middlesex Hospital. The role involves providing high-standard physiotherapy to neurologically impaired patients, particularly those with stroke, as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work autonomously to assess, treat, and rehabilitate patients, aiming to optimise their wellbeing and independence.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a high standard physiotherapy service to neurologically impaired patients at West Middlesex Hospital.
  • Work closely with patients, carers, and other disciplines to identify and achieve patient goals.
  • Conduct specialist assessment, treatment, and ongoing rehabilitation for stroke inpatients as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, providing specialist stroke and neurological assessment and treatment to a designated caseload.
  • Maintain up to date therapy records and assist in the day-to-day running of the Stroke and Neurological therapy service.

Essential criteria

  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational therapy/ Physiotherapy
  • HPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD and relevant post graduate courses
  • Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in Neurology or stroke care
  • Experience of working in an acute care setting
  • Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in other relevant clinical areas e.g. respiratory, medicine, elderly care
  • Experience working with people who have had a Stroke
  • Evidence of close working with all members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of complex discharge planning in the NHS
  • Experience of supervision and teaching of assistants, students and other members of MDT
  • Demonstrates specialist knowledge of Neurological assessment and treatment skills
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the pressures of acute working in the NHS
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Able to self-evaluate and utilise opportunities to develop self
  • Able to understand and adhere to the professional and legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Evidence of ability to prioritise/effective time management
  • Evidence of participation in research, audit policy / guideline development
  • Evidence of participation in service development
  • Demonstrates the use of professional communication strategies with patients, carers and members of the MDT and the ability to modify them appropriately.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic band 6 physiotherapist to join Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust in the stroke and neurology therapy team at West Middlesex for 10 months.

This post would be suited to either an experienced band 5 physiotherapist or a band 6 physiotherapist with stroke / neurology experience within a diverse and friendly team.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to neurologically impaired patients at West Middlesex Hospital

To work closely with patients and their carers, other disciplines and services, to identify and realise desired and achievable goals, and optimise wellbeing,
