Role summary
The Assistant Service Manager is a key member of the Medical Division's Management Team, responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of select services and line managing designated staff. They will work with senior management to identify strategic developments and implement changes to ensure delivery of quality, performance, and financial plans. The role involves supporting the Senior Operations Manager to meet Trust targets and standards, and representing services at internal and external meetings.
Essential criteria
- oDegree level education or equivalent
- oEvidence of continuing professional development
- oSpecialist management short courses /qualifications
- Experience and knowledge
- oDemonstrate evidence of sound financial/staff management
- oProject management
- oExperience of business plan development
- oIn depth knowledge of NHS Waiting Times, regulations and all access targets.
- oGood understanding of current performance targets.
- oIT literate (MS office, Excel, Word)

- oPrevious NHS experience
- oEvidence of managing change.
- oAbility to analyse and interpret management and patient information and make recommendations to others.
- oSound knowledge base of the NHS, current issues, values and principles of timely local access for the population.

Job summary
As a member of the Medical Division's Management Team, the Assistant Service Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day running of select services within the Division and line managing designated staff. In conjunction with the Senior Operations Manager and the Associate Director of Operations, the Assistant Service Manager will identify strategic developments within the service and implement changes where agreed, ensuring the delivery of key quality, performance, and financial plans.
Supporting the Senior Operations Manager, the Assistant Service Manager will deliver the relevant Trust targets, standards, KPIs and contractual requirements, ensuring there is a robust performance management framework within the service.
The Assistant Service Manager will represent their services and the Division at internal and external meetings.
