Role summary

This role involves supporting families after a loved one's death, providing compassionate guidance on processes like the Medical Examiner and death registration. You will handle administrative duties, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with various services to ensure timely and accurate information. Essential criteria

  • *Good standard of secondary education e.g. English and Maths GCSE 9-4/ A-C
  • *Good Keyboard Skills
  • *NVQ 3 or equivalent comparable experience

Desirable criteria

  • *Good IT literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • *Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
  • *Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • *Experience of using IT systems
  • *Experience of working in a busy environment
  • *Clerical/administrative experience
  • *Demonstrate understanding of patient confidentiality
  • *Experience of working in healthcare or a similar complex environment
  • *Knowledge of acute hospital bereavement services
  • *Knowledge of processes and procedures following a death

Job summary

As a Bereavement Care Administrative Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting families following the death of a loved one. You will provide compassionate guidance on the Medical Examiner process, registration of death, funeral arrangements and available bereavement support services, ensuring families receive timely and accurate information.

You will undertake a range of bereavement-related administrative duties, maintaining accurate records and ensuring processes are completed in line with Trust policies and legal requirements. Working closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Medical Examiner teams, mortuary services, funeral directors and external agencies, you will help deliver a coordinated and compassionate service.

We are looking for an organised, empathetic and resilient individual with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload. The successful candidate will be confident using IT systems, able to prioritise competing demands and remain professional when dealing with sensitive and emotionally challenging situations.
