Role summary
This role is for a Senior Clinical Support Worker on a busy 31-41 bedded Acute Medical Unit. The unit handles a high turnover of patients with various medical conditions, receiving them directly from A&E and other hospital areas. The position requires providing compassionate and competent care in a fast-paced environment. A supernumerary period is provided for orientation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate, and competent care to patients on the Acute Medical Unit.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients.
- Orientate to the new environment during a supernumerary period.
- Adhere to the duties outlined in the Job Description and Person Specification.
- Meet specific criteria related to numeracy, literacy, care certification, and experience.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GSCE level 2-3/D-F or Level 1 equivalent, including Maths and English (IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
- Hold a full Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of role commencement
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or willing to complete if successful as mandatory requirement of employment (NVQ MUST be from an accredited awarding body). For applicants with more than 3 years experience, this is voluntary
- 12 months experience in a professional contract as a Healthcare Assistant or equivalent

Job summary
At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.
