Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Acute Adult Mental Health Wards at Roseberry Park Hospital. The role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals in need of acute mental health support. The successful candidate will contribute to psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention planning, working under the supervision of a Qualified Applied Psychologist. Opportunities for audit, service evaluation, and professional development are also available.
Essential criteria
- Degree in psychology.
- Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of community sensitive information
- Experience of work interacting with the public
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
- An awareness of the application of psychology to health care
- Demonstrate an awareness of confidentiality within healthcare
- Awareness of the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct
- Awareness of systemic barriers to accessing psychological services/healthcare for minoritised communities
Desirable criteria
- Experience as a psychology assistant (paid or voluntary)
- Experience working with people with mental health distress, learning disabilities or neurodiversity (paid or voluntary)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Acute Adult Mental Health Wards at Roseberry Park Hospital in Middlesbrough.
This post is offered on a permanent and full-time basis, and will cover three acute adult mental health wards, two male and one female ward. You will join a welcoming multi-disciplinary team in the provision of compassionate, trauma informed care to individuals in need of acute mental health care.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Psychology. Previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering psychologically informed interventions to people experiencing mental health difficulties would be desirable. This is a versatile and fast paced role; you will need to demonstrate compassion, be adaptable and work with flexibility, have excellent communication skills, and have experience of working within a team.
Main duties of the job
The post offers applicants an opportunity for direct and indirect work. The post holder will work under the supervision of an experienced Qualified Applied Psychologist in supporting the co-creation of MDT
