Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join the early years team, working with pre-school age children in East Kent. The role involves assessing, planning, and implementing SLT interventions for children with speech, language, and communication needs. You will deliver evidence-based interventions, develop integrated care plans, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in community clinics and Family Hubs.
Essential criteria
- Registered health care professional (HCPC registration); Health related degree and evidence of relevant post graduate development at Level 6
- Recent experience in area of practice; Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads in community settings; Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience
- Special knowledge and expertise
- Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services; Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months
- Skills & abilities
- Understanding of training needs in relation to post; Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and to meet deadlines; Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including areas of social deprivation; Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups; Strong influencing and negotiating skills

- Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our early years team working with pre-school age children in East Kent.
Our Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children 0 - 19 years within KCHFT.
The sessions will be based across our community clinics in either Canterbury or Thanet, where you will be able to work alongside some of our experienced Clinical Specialists. The sessions will also involve working in some of our local Family Hubs where we run a Talking Walk-in service.
We work closely with colleagues from other health, education and social care teams to provide an integrated team around the child approach.We currently have 1.0 Wte Band 6 Early Years Speech and Language Therapy sessions available on a permanent basis.
