Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in MSK Outpatients at George Eliot Hospital. The role involves performing advanced assessment and clinical reasoning for complex musculoskeletal conditions, developing individualised treatment programmes, and managing a specialised caseload. The post holder will also provide clinical leadership, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development within the MSK Outpatients team. A particular interest in spinal conditions is essential for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Perform advanced assessment and clinical reasoning for patients with diverse presentations and complex musculoskeletal conditions.
- Develop and deliver an individualised management/treatment programme.
- Make therapeutic and/or clinical diagnoses and treat own caseload of specialised and complex patients/clients.
- Provide clinical leadership to the MSK Outpatients team and deputise for the team leader when necessary.
- Supervise and support the work of other junior staff and support workers.
- Assist MSK Team Leads in contributing to the planning, coordination, development and evaluation of the service.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Master's Degree or equivalent in relevant specialism (or working towards one)
- HCPC registration
- Post-Registration training/experience in specialism
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to demonstrate autonomous clinical intervention and decision making
- Ability to pass on skills/knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
- Highly developed Inter-personal and communication skills- with all levels of staff
- Ability to work within a MDT and with an interdisciplinary approach
- Critical Appraisal
- Well-developed clinical leadership skills
- Ability to manage own caseload
- Excellent organizational skills
- Appraisal and mentorship experience
- Very good presentational and educational skills
- Able to maintain judgement under pressure
- Able to communicate with patients with range of communication abilities
- Able to deliver complex information in an interview way with patients whilst addressing barriers to understanding
- IT Skills-Word, Microsoft Outlook
- A positive 'can do' attitude to change and flexible working practices to meet changing service needs/demands
- Ability to deal with stress and stressful situations
- Flexible and adaptable
- Able to cover 7 days, if required
