Role summary
This role is for an experienced Research Nurse or Practitioner to join the Research and Innovation team at Queen Victoria Hospital. The postholder will coordinate a portfolio of clinical research studies, identifying and recruiting participants, supporting informed consent, and coordinating assessments. They will ensure studies are delivered safely and efficiently according to protocols and governance requirements. The role involves working with principal investigators, clinical teams, and sponsors across various specialties.
Essential criteria
- NMC registration, relevant professional registration (eg. CRP accreditation) or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of delivering research studies including CTIMPs and device trials
- Experience in new study feasibility and set-up
- Experience of dealing with patients and families in distress
- Experience of working with different study databases and clinical research management system (eg. EDGE)
- Experience of using MS office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience of the care of cancer patients
- Experience in ophthalmic care
- Experience in plastic surgery specialty
- Knowledge of the clinical research life-cycle; from EOI, feasibility, and set-up to coordination and closure--including securing all regulatory approvals prior to recruitment initiation
- Knowledge of ICH-GCP, Clinical Trial Regulation 2004 and UK Policy Framework
- Organisation, problem solving and management skills
- Interpersonal skills and able to communicate complex information at all level
- Ability to analyse complicated information from trial protocol
- Sound prioritising skills and ability to manage own workload
- Competency in phlebotomy, ECG and other relevant clinical activities

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Research Nurse / Research Practitioner (CRP) - Part-time (24 hours per week) to join the Research and Innovation team at Queen Victoria Hospital.
We undertake work across a range of specialties, which means plenty of variety in the role - from questionnaire studies right up to full scale clinical drug/device trials. You'll need good organisational skills, high attention to detail, and considerable experience working in clinical research.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated research nurse or practitioner who can work independently while contributing actively to a supportive multidisciplinary research team.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will coordinate a portfolio of clinical research studies across the Trust's specialist services. They will identify and recruit eligible participants, support informed consent, coordinate research-related assessments and follow-up, and maintain accurate study documentation and data.
