Role summary

This is a part-time Team Administrator role within a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in York, supporting medical secretaries, consultants, and nursing colleagues. The role involves administrative tasks, customer service, and maintaining high standards in a busy environment. The successful candidate will be pivotal in day-to-day operations, ensuring the team has everything needed to provide excellent patient care. Previous administrative experience is essential, but NHS experience is not required.

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 Qualification in relevant field or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards Level 3 in Business Administration.
  • Key skills/functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 OR O Level (Grade C and above/New GCSE in Maths and English (Grade 4 to 9) are an essential requirement to be fully competent in the role. Where an applicant does not have the above qualifications or are unable to provide evidence of the certification, the applicant MUST achieve the required standards during their probationary period.

Desirable criteria

  • Level 3 in Business Administration.
  • RSA Level 2 or equivalent Secretarial/administrative experience in a clinical environment.
  • Experience of working in an administrative environment (diary management, filing systems, meeting coordination, minute taking, data input, collating and presenting information).
  • Customer Service experience (face to face, answering calls, correspondence).
  • Experience of organising competing demands and workloads.
  • Experience of setting up and maintenance of administrative systems and processes.
  • Evidence of experience in working autonomously and proactively.
  • Experience of supporting/supervising staff
  • Experience of working in the NHS or a similar structure/systems based organisation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of data protection and the need for confidentiality and how to maintain this.
  • Knowledge of office systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of NHS systems

Job summary

A fantastic part time (15 hours) opportunity has arisen for a conscientious and dynamic administrator to join one of our close-knit and supportive Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), here in York.

The North CMHT is based in Huntington House and provides community-based support to people aged between 18 and 65 years old who are experiencing challenges with their mental health.

Huntington House is nestled to the west of Monks Cross, is a short walk away from the Community Stadium and Vanguarde Shopping Park. It is on the outskirts of York City Centre just inside the ring road (North), benefits from free on-site parking and is easily accessible by car, bus and bicycle.

As a member of this small and friendly team, you will work in an open plan office on the second floor of the building. This floor is also home to other community mental health teams and is an area of high activity; no two days are the same.
