Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 nurse to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical pre-assessment Team at Royal Brompton Hospital. The post holder will manage the pre-operative care of patients awaiting cardiothoracic surgery, including triage, remote monitoring, and developing clinical protocols. They will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of care and contribute to service improvement. Key responsibilities

  • Manage the pre-operative care of patients awaiting cardiothoracic surgery, from acceptance to admission.
  • Triage symptoms, assess severity, and escalate patient concerns appropriately.
  • Remotely monitor patients on the waiting list and develop clinical protocols and pathways.
  • Develop skills in history taking and medical clerking for pre-admission clinics.
  • Review clinical investigation results, highlighting concerns to surgical and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in initiatives to continually improve the service and embrace service change.

Main duties of the job
