Role summary
This role is for an Interventional Radiographer to join a growing team within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The post involves working across multiple sites, providing high-quality imaging and patient care during complex Interventional Radiology procedures. Responsibilities include operating sophisticated equipment, managing patient and equipment positioning, and ensuring radiation protection. Full training will be provided, and the role requires participation in an out-of-hours on-call service.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high quality imaging and exceptional patient care during complex Interventional Radiology procedures.
- Operate highly sophisticated, specialised equipment for patient and equipment positioning, acquisition, manipulation and archiving of images.
- Manage the use of a wide range of expensive, sterile consumables, requiring detailed knowledge.
- Respond rapidly to requests for equipment and advise radiology trainees and consultants on alternatives.
- Minimise radiation dose to patients, operators, and staff during interventional procedures.
- Participate in the 24/7 out of hours, non-residential on-call service and work flexible shifts.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Radiography)
- Registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer with the Health Professions Council
- Keyboard skills Use of RIS / PACS system
- Knowledge of Radiation protection
- Good basic Radiographic skills and knowledge of anatomy / physiology
- Demonstrate good experience within diagnostic radiography setting
- Demonstrates a desire to work in interventional radiology
- Able to communicate well with a range of personnel.
- Able to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to question clearly and concisely
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to make decisions and carry them out.
- Ability to assess situations and take appropriate action.
- Flexible and adaptable
- Ability to carry out moderate physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities subject to reasonable adjustment under the equality act 2010.
- Ability to participate in the out of hours rota

- Two years post-qualification experience
