Role summary
This is an exciting full-time permanent opportunity for a Team Leader within the Patient Administration Services Team at Birmingham Children's Hospital. The role involves providing support to senior clerks, ensuring first-class service delivery, and coordinating administrative processes. The post holder will assist in daily team management and work closely with the Operational Manager, adapting to new ways of working. This position is ideal for a dynamic individual who can work under pressure and is looking for a first-line management challenge.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE English & Mathematics level.
- ECDL or equivalent.

- Training in equal opportunities and/or recruitment and selection
- NVQ level 4 or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS
- To be able to show empathy and understanding towards individual staff needs
- Articulate, methodical, self motivated and able to work well within a team
- Demonstrate willingness to lean and develop within the role in line with performance development expectations
- Knowledge of patient administration systems
- Clear oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate experience in the ability to meet deadlines in an unpredictable and pressurised environment

- Microsoft Office experience particularly Word and Excel
- Able to meet deadlines in a pressurised environment
- Previous Experience / knowledge of the Emergency Department, Ward Clerk, outpatient and health records and digitisation roles
- Previous/equivalent experience of staff supervision

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated full-time permanent Team Leader within the Patient Administration Services Team, based at the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person, with a flexible approach, to provide support primarily to the front desk senior clerks (ED Reception Team), ensuring first-class service is delivered to our patients. The post holder will ensure all administrative processes are followed, in line with standard operating procedures, providing a streamlined service to our patients.
You will support in co-ordinating the teams on a daily basis and be responsible with existing team leaders in day to day management. You will primarily be working closely with the Patient Admin Services Operational Manager in supporting team leaders and the department where necessary. You will work in all areas in addition to actively be involved with the implementation of any new ways of working. To assist in coordinating the Patient Admin Service across the Trust in conjunction with the other Team Leaders (please see JD for further details).
