Key responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for patients with dementia and complex mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based intervention plans that promote independence and maximize functional ability.
  • Undertake cognitive, functional, and environmental assessments to inform discharge planning.
  • Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Provide specialist advice regarding dementia care, meaningful occupation and risk management.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and the delivery of evidence-based practice.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration
  • CPD portfolio containing evidence of active involvement of CPD activities
  • Relevant Post-Graduate qualification, e.g. AMPS,DBT, SI, Psychosocial intervention or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience of working with patients with complex and challenging needs
  • Substantial Post registration experience as an OT, predominantly in mental health.
  • Highly developed clinical knowledge base in mental health and psychosocial interventions
  • Highly developed knowledge of the Principles of Recovery and Social Inclusion

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working with rehabilitation principles.
