Role summary
This Assistant Psychologist role is within the Community Child and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) for East Hertfordshire. The post holder will support data analysis, service evaluation, and deliver psychological interventions under supervision. Essential criteria
- Upper second class honours degree in psychology, or other higher degree in psychology, or equivalent undergraduate qualification. Or second class honours degree in psychology with relevant Master's level training
Desirable criteria
- Masters level training in relevant Psychological or Mental Health area.
- Post-graduate training in relevant mental-health / psychological / recovery discipline.
- Experience of working with children/young people
- Experience of work with children and/or adolescents with moderate to severe mental health problems
- Experience in psychological interventions - DBT, CBT or interpersonal therapy interventions or other evidence based approaches.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and Skill
- Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals.
- Ability to manage distressing and challenging situations.
- Knowledge of legislation related to children and/or adolescent's mental health and social care e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Care Programme Approach, Child Protection and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of CAPA model and i-Thrive framework

An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Psychologist to join the HPFT Community Child and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) for the East Hertfordshire team, based at Rosanne House, Welwyn Garden City and Hoddesdon Health Centre.
This role is part of an established community team within the HPFT Specialist Division, focusing on the assessment and treatment of children and young people with mental health needs. The CYPMH team provides specialist assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for young people in the community and offers support in collaboration with children, young people, and their families.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining service databases, entering data, generating reports on service targets, and conducting audits and evaluations in accordance with national guidelines for monitoring service delivery and clinical progress, all under the supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling).
