Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Inclusion Worker within the Birmingham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. The role involves leading the development and provision of social and therapeutic activities for service users. You will work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team, contributing to assessments and interventions through community activities and social interaction. Key responsibilities
- Support the Multi-disciplinary Team in engaging service user and parent/carer's involvement with the service.
- Take a lead role in the development and provision of social/therapeutic activities for service users.
- Provide practical support and social engagement with the service user.
- Accompany service users as required to access health and therapeutic activities under the guidance and supervision of the MDT.
- Responsible for reporting and recording any changes in the service user's mental/physical/emotional state to the care co-ordinator or senior clinician.
- Participate in multi-professional reviews and team meetings.
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 to 3 or equivalent - GCSE A-C, Intermediate GNVQ, BTEC first certificate, A level, AVCE, BTEC National, Certificate/Diploma, Vocational A-Levels. An ONC (Ordinary National Certificate) and OND (Ordinary National Diploma).
- Experience of working with young people and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A genuine desire to support young people and adults experiencing a First episode of psychosis in their social recovery.
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of First episode psychosis and how this might impact on an individual's recovery.
- An understanding of why Social inclusion interventions are key in the process of recovery for an individual experiencing a First episode of psychosis.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Inclusion Worker working within Birmingham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. The post is based at Finch Road Primary Care Centre. The successful candidate will take a lead in the development and provision of social/therapeutic activities for service users who are under the care of Birmingham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.
You will work very closely with the Multi Disciplinary Team and have the opportunity to contribute to assessments and interventions, through community activities and social interaction. You will be expected to facilitate and participate in planned and ad hoc group work and individual activities with service users, in addition to this you will be required to motivate and negotiate with service users who may be unwilling to participate in activity and to promote the benefits and outcomes that participation could generate, i.e. social interaction, well-being and independence.
