Role summary
This role is for an experienced District Nurse with a Specialist Practitioner Qualification to join the Tameside and Glossop District Nursing Service. The post holder will manage routine team activities, organise workloads and staff rotas, and ensure high standards of clinical practice. They will also be involved in assessing and developing junior staff and students, contributing to an integrated neighbourhood team.
Key responsibilities
- Manage routine activities of the District Nursing Team.
- Organise workload and staff rotas.
- Exercise leadership and judgement to ensure good clinical practices and high standards of care.
- Work within an integrated neighbourhood and contribute to organisational changes.
- Assess and develop students and junior staff, acting as a Mentor.
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- Holds the Community Specialist Practitioner qualification (DN Pathway)
- Registered non-medical prescriber
- Demonstrate leadership skills and attributes.
- Knowledge of factors requiring consideration in planned change.
- Ability to manage complex needs assessments and plan future care.
- Demonstrate a understanding of clinical governance and safety/quality initiatives pertaining to the role.
- Implementation of audit/evidence based recommendations
- Excellent communication skills and awareness of conflict management.
- Evidence of development needs/support/mentorship to junior staff including students.
- Can demonstrate continuous professional development
- Able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice and expertise to meet service need.
- Knowledge of the values underpinning the NHS Constitution
- Demonstrate an understanding of national and local strategic direction within District Nursing
- IT skills/Computer literacy
- Ability to travel
Desirable criteria
- Registered mentor/Practice teacher
- Leadership module/study.
- Evidence of innovative practice.
