Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 6 Nurse with an interest in Burns Specialist Outreach Nursing. The role involves facilitating teaching in the community and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality burn care. You will manage a patient caseload and support patients' families, carers, and friends. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this challenging environment.
Essential criteria
- Good general education
- Registered Nurse (Level 1)
- Recognised Teaching and Assessing course (MSPP/PASS)
- Evidence of further continued professional development (Advance Burn Care module, MSPP/PASS)
Desirable criteria
- Extended Nurse Training
- Sound 5 years' experience as a band 5 nurse in a burns ward
- Additional experience in a speciality other than burns (i.e. plastic surgery)
- Previous experience as Burns Outreach Nurse
- Experience of teaching students, HCA's and qualified staff in the clinical setting
- Previous experience as shift/team leader
- Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
- Ability to verbally communicate clearly in English
- Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
- Knowledge of evidence and research-based practice
- Managerial and leadership ability
- High motivation and ability to motivate others
- Special Circumstances
- Ability to travel different community sites
- Ability to work required shift pattern

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Burns Specialist Care for a motivated Band 6 Nurse with an interest in Burns Specialist Outreach Nursing. Previous acute experience as burns nurse would be desirable. You would be part of the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure our inpatients/outpatients receive the quality care that is essential to meet their holistic needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to enable you to work effectively within a challenging environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to facilitate teaching in the community in liaison with community / GP services to ensure continued high-quality patient care is maintained and working within the framework of Trust policiesWorking collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and attending weekly MDT meetings to maintain the highest standards that will enhance the patients' experience and recovery.Provide specialist burn care service to patients in community, be efficient in managing a patient caseload and able to support the patient's families, carers and friends.
