Role summary
This is an exciting Band 7 opportunity to clinically lead the Calderdale Post Covid service. You will join a multiprofessional team focused on self-management and symptom-based rehab, providing expert triage, assessment, treatment, and clinical coordination. The role involves developing the service in line with West Yorkshire ICB recommendations and leading various professions. You will also support training and skill acquisition within the team and across Calderdale.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent award in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC
- MSc or MSc level learning in a relevant subject or can demonstrate equivalent clinical experience
- Recent post graduate courses relevant to the management of post viral conditions/respiratory conditions /cardiac conditions/dysautonomia/breathing disorders/ME/CFS
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Professional body
- Successful completion of a professionally validated specialist course
- Member of clinical network relevant to post viral illness e.g. Clinical Post COVID Society, British Thoracic Society
- KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
- Highly Specialist level of knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support expert clinical practice in Long COVID including the assessment, treatment and management of people recovering from Long COVID and post viral illness
- The ability to lead assessment and treatment sessions and create detailed and comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with Long COVID
- Significant experience of prioritising own and other caseloads with experience of delegation of work to the relevant grade of staff
- Excellent organisational and planning skills both individually and in a team
- Extensive experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Recent relevant experience of multidisciplinary guideline development, implementation and audit
- Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor

- Significant experience of planning and delivering teaching sessions, covering both theory and practical skills to own and other professions
- Knowledge of the principles of student-centred learning and reflective practice
- Comprehensive, relevant and recent experience working in relevant clinical areas e.g. respiratory/cardiology/neurology
- Recent experience in dealing with Human Resource issues such as recruitment and retention, performance management, sickness and annual leave
- Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working with key stakeholders across clinical pathways
- Knowledge of clinical standards and guidelines with the ability to implement and audit these in the team
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and research. With evidence of implementing these.
- Competent IT skills in order to collect and interpret data, present reports and compile presentations in a range of contexts
- Experience of using virtual ways of working e.g. telehealth, video conferencing, use of digital platform and other remote methods of working and supporting clinical practice.
- Experience of taking part in or leading an audit or research project
- Experience of working in partnership across different organisations
- Recent experience of leadership /management role

Job summary
This is an exciting Band 7 opportunity to clinically lead the Calderdale Post Covid service.
You will join a multiprofessional team who are passionate about the service they deliver. The team works with a strong emphasis on self management and delivers symptom based rehab. You will provide expert triage, assessment, treatment and clinical coordination of patients in CHFT's pathway.
The expectation is that this service will develop in line with West Yorkshire ICB recommendations to expand to include other conditions who would benefit from a similar symptom based approach. You will work alongside the service lead to develop this new vision and pathway.
You will also be leading, facilitating and working with a number of professions including direct liaison with primary care, referrers and consultants in secondary care.
This service is delivered in a variety of settings: classes, patient homes, clinic and virtual. You will support the training and skill acquisition within the core team but also support training needs of services across the Calderdale place. As a new and emerging service, you and the service lead will be responsible for the development and evaluation of the service.
