Role summary
This role involves autonomously assessing, treating, and discharging patients with minor injuries and illnesses, utilising non-medical prescribing qualifications. The post holder will also manage the day-to-day operations of the Urgent Care Treatment Centre and support junior staff. This is an evolving role within the Trust, offering a supportive clinical and administrative team, induction, and training.
Key responsibilities
- Autonomously assess, treat and discharge adults and children presenting a wide range of minor injuries and minor illnesses.
- Day to day running of the Urgent Care Treatment Centre.
- Ensure all patients' individual needs are assessed, care planned, delivered, and evaluated.
- Assist the Operations Manager and deputise in their absence.
Essential criteria
- NMC/HCPC Registered Clinician
- Post registration qualification in minor injuries and minor illness.
- Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification
- advanced clinical assessment module, Level 7
- Extensive post registration experience (5+ years)
- Extensive post registration work experience including in appropriate setting (ED, MIU, WIC, UCC, OOH or GP practice)
Desirable criteria
- Master qualification or working towards
- RCGP / CoP exam or equivalent
- Post Gradate diploma advanced practice
- IRMER qualification
- Experience interacting with ambulance crews (handovers and offering advice)

Job summary
The role of the Nurse or Paramedic Non-Medical Prescriber will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and discharge of scheduled and unscheduled cases with an urgent nature and assessment initial treatment and referral of emergency cases in patients of all ages.The post holder will use their non-medical prescribing qualification to support patient care according to the local formulary. As senior clinicians they will also support staff who issue medications via PGD with their prescribing decisions.
The post holder will take charge of the day to day running of the UTC and in the absence of the operations manager will manage general enquiries, staffing issues, complaints and support junior staff as required.
You will be well supported by a friendly clinical and administrative team. Induction and training will be provided. SWASFT will also provide your medical indemnity. This is an evolving role within the Trust as is subject to change and development as required by the organisation.
