Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to join the dynamic District Nursing Service as a Community Nursing Deputy Team Lead. The role involves working alongside the team lead to provide leadership and day-to-day management of the Community Nursing Team. The post holder will establish and maintain robust communication networks with patients, carers, team members, GPs, and other professionals. They will act as a role model, exercising accountability for patient care in line with the NMC code of professional conduct. Vacancies are available in Blyth, Brockwell, Hexham, and other potential locations across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
Key responsibilities
- Work alongside the team lead to provide leadership and day to day management of the Community Nursing Team.
- Establish and maintain robust communication networks with patients, carers, team members, GPs and other professionals and agencies.
- Act as a role model for the Community Nursing service, patients and families, exercising accountability for patient care in line the NMC code of professional conduct.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate packages of care for patients on their caseload, delegating appropriately.
- Lead a team of Community Nurses, responsible for the day to day management of the District Nursing Team.
- Maintain effective management and clinical supervision frameworks for all staff, with responsibility for carrying out professional development reviews.

- Registered General Nurse
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equlivent level of experience or knowledge.
- Practice Assessor
- Registered Mentor: Mentor supervisor/Assessor
Desirable criteria
- District Nursing Practitioner qualification OR Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) & Advanced Clinical Skills
- Completion of in-house Development programme
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Previous post - registration experience
- Experience and understanding of working in Community Setting
- Other
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving license and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
