Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Allergy Dietitian to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, working across paediatric and adult allergy services. The role involves providing highly specialist dietetic service, developing expertise across the full patient journey, and supporting adolescents transitioning from paediatric to adult care. You will work with Clinical Lead Dietitian for Paediatric Allergy, Adult Allergy Consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams to deliver and evaluate high-quality, evidence-based care. The post requires an enthusiastic, innovative practitioner with significant experience in paediatric or adult allergy and excellent communication skills.
Essential criteria
- Degree (or equivalent) in dietetics and nutrition
- State registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area
- Clinical Educators course or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Professional Organisation
- Membership of Professional special interest groups relevant to speciality
- Relevant Postgraduate clinical qualification
- Management skills or leadership training
- Significant recent clinical experience in relevant clinical area
- Evidence of a broad base of clinical experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
- Significant experience of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and inter-agency working
- Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways and using outcome measures
- Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for therapists, MDT members, support workers, students and apprentices
- Experience of service development/change management
- Experience in implementing evidence based practice in speciality
- Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute hospital (if required for job role)
- Previous Band 7 or equivalent experience in relevant post
- Leadership of a therapy team
- Recent, relevant work in an NHS environment
- Experience of using clinical governance framework to monitor and improve quality of patient care
- Clinical research experience
- Experience of planning and managing service improvement activities
- Education/Qualifications

Job summary

This unique post offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise across the full patient journey, with a particular focus on supporting adolescents as they transition from paediatric to adult care.
You will provide a highly specialist dietetic service, working with the Clinical Lead Dietitian for Paediatric Allergy, Adult Allergy Consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams to deliver, develop and evaluate high-quality, evidence-based care. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative practitioner with significant experience in paediatric or adult allergy, excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in developing expertise across both age groups.
You will act as an expert resource, support staff education, contribute to audit and service development, and help shape allergy dietetic service provision for children, young people and adults. The post is based within well-established teams at St Mary's Hospital, with supervision, training and development from both paediatric and adult allergy services.
