Role summary
This fixed-term Community Healthcare Assistant role involves working 15 hours per week, primarily in the evenings (18:30-23:30), as part of an evening team. You will visit patients in their own homes across North Worcestershire to support them in remaining at home and preventing hospital admissions. The role includes providing personal care, mobility support, simple wound care, and catheter care, with full training provided. This position offers pay enhancements for unsocial hours and aims to provide a good work-life balance.
Key responsibilities
- Visit patients in their own homes, primarily across the North of the county, as allocated via an electronic system.
- Support patients with personal care, mobility, simple wound care, and catheter care.
- Work independently and as part of a team, with some visits requiring two members of staff.
- Support nursing staff and deliver a high standard of nursing care for patients in their own homes.
- Ensure care provided maintains privacy and dignity, values diversity, and respects cultural and individual rights and choices.
- Assist the team to develop and achieve team and organizational objectives and participate in training.

- Level 3 qualification (e.g. NVQ 3, A-level) in Care or equivalent qualification or experience or Level 2 qualification (e.g. NVQ2, GCSE Grade A-C) in Care and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment to post
- Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

- Basic knowledge of physical/ mental health conditions.
- A level of understanding of rehabilitation
- Experience of working with older adults in a health/social care setting
- Community experience of older adults with physical and/or mental health problems.
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation or general medical setting.
- Experience of medication administration

This role
as a band 3 Health care assistant offers lifestyle flexibility as part of the
evening team working 18:30-23:30 There are 15 hours available
working 3 shifts a week.Although
the team is a countywide team with a central base in Droitwich, there are
several satellite bases across the county. This vacancy is for the North of the
County being based at Princess of Wales hospital in Bromsgrove
The Team visits
patients in their own home and support them in remaining at home and preventing
admission to hospital and also supporting early discharge from hospital.
The post is
all worked as unsocial hours hence picking up pay enhancements for all hours worked
which makes this post more attractive. more money for less hours!!
These
working hours offer perfect work life balance particularly if you have a young
family, you will have the daytime to enjoy hobbies and activities but remain in
a progressive career.
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific
purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract
sooner with appropriate notice.
