Role summary
This role is for an experienced Paediatric Clinical Sister / Charge Nurse to join the Acute Paediatric Team at Warwick Hospital. The unit includes an inpatient ward, outpatient area, and a Paediatric Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will provide clinical and professional leadership, ensuring high standards of family-centred care and deputising for the ward manager. It involves working flexibly, including nights and weekends, and contributing to a supportive, forward-thinking team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and co-ordinate the team to maintain and deliver a high standard of family centred care.
- Ensure high quality and cost-effective services and deputise for the ward manager.
- Provide clinical and professional leadership and support to all non-medical staff.
- Take responsibility for own personal and professional development, maintaining clinical credibility.
- Participate in setting and maintaining high standards of evidence-based nursing and supervise/evaluate work of nursing staff.
- Contribute to the planning, monitoring and control of ward resources and assist in optimising nursing resources.
Essential criteria
- Registered Children's Nurse
- Diploma / Degree in Professional Nursing / Health Studies
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Relevant experience in Acute Medical Area

- Experience and understanding of audit and evidence-based care

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust are looking for dedicated and forward-thinking experienced nurse to join our Acute Paediatric Team based at Warwick Hospital.
The Paediatric Unit is comprised of; MacGregor Ward, a 17 inpatient Paediatric beds (including High Dependency Beds), a Paediatric Outpatient Area, and a 5 bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU).
We work closely with the Emergency department and within our team we have our clinicians, Paediatric ACPs, Paediatric Physiotherapists and Specialist nurses who you will work alongside.
