Role summary
This role leads the Directorate in providing a sensitive, responsive, and compassionate service to women and families experiencing bereavement due to miscarriage, stillbirth, termination for fetal abnormality, or neonatal death. It involves educating multi-disciplinary health professionals in bereavement care, ensuring systems and processes are understood, and delivering compassionate care. The post holder will also provide support and advice for bereaved families and staff, coordinate pathways, and ensure policies comply with national guidance. They will act as a positive role model, promoting best practice.

- Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of undertaking post-mortem training
- Knowledge and understanding of grieving process
- Understanding of the counselling process
- Experience of working in stressful situations with bereaved parents and families
- Sound knowledge of recent Government/ Professional documents with awareness of implications to service provision
- Experience of teaching in multidisciplinary settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good presentation skills
- Act as role model to multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to exercise professional accountability and autonomy
- Ability to act effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Ensuring collaborations across professional boundaries
